Early Charlie Chaplin films are being restored and will be available to the general public. See this story at CNN's Screening Room. But be sure to watch the video included within it.
It is amazing and a great blessing that film technicians labor painstakingly to provide film lovers with pristine prints of damaged films.
Please join my in a loud huzzah! for the anonymous folks at places like the British Film Institute and Bologna, Italy's Cineteca Bologna for their labors.
Chaplin is, of course, one of the most influential figures in film. Thankfully he left a large body of work and took great care of his films. These Chaplin films were made before he owned the fruits of his labor and thus weren't previously available.
I join you in eagerly awaiting their release.
