Rihanna's tour in jeopardy due to low-ticket sales
The singer had faced the same problems with her 2010 ‘Last Girl on Earth’ tour, and had to cancel Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, Denver and Indianapolis because of low-ticket sales.
After poor US concert pre-sales last month, Rihanna, 23, has been advised by her day-to-day manager, Jay Brown, to cancel domestic dates on her latest tour.
“It has been a big disappointment,” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.
“The ticket sales in big US cities like Boston are so bad, they will barely cover basics like the lighting and other arena costs. Tour managers are begging local radio stations to do giveaways,” the source stated.
Rihanna is scheduled to perform at T.D. Garden arena in Boston on July 24 with Cee Lo Green. Only 3,700 tickets have been sold, and sources on the tour say she needs to sell at least 15,000 to break even.
They expect more than a half-million dollars in losses from the Boston concert alone.
Her new manager, Brown, who is part of Roc Nation, is preparing to make changes, sources said.
The tour starts in June 4 in Baltimore and heads to Canada and then around the US before moving to England in August.
“She should’ve been doing theatres and smaller venues. She’s not ready to headline an arena tour,” an insider added.

Rihanna okay with modification in restraining order
Singer Rihanna has agreed to modify her restraining order against ex-beau Chris Brown.
The singer has allowed to modify it to level one, which would allow them to have contact as long as Brown doesn't annoy, molest or harass her. Brown's attorney has been informed of her approval, but he has yet to go to court to have the order officially changed, reports usmagazine.com.
Brown was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service for assaulting Rihanna in 2009, following which she had obtained a restraining order which doesn't allow him to be within 100 yards of her.

Rihanna's Ring Bling

Jewelry trends - from mood rings and circle pendants to tennis bracelets and statement necklaces - aren't always easy to spot right away. Usually, they start with a celebrity (Like Oprah Winfrey and the diamond circle pendant). So as jewelry hounds are wont to do, I've been digging around for a celebrity jewelry trend that's ready to break to the masses - and break big.
Enter Rihanna.

National Jeweler wisely pointed out earlier this year that the superstar has been wearing rings on every finger wherever she goes (the AMAs, The Woman of the Year Awards, what have you).
Not long after, I spotted the same trend on the Fall Ready-to-Wear runways - Karl Lagerfeld's latest Chanel offering for one. And at the Kids' Choice Awards last weekend (often the perfect place to spot the next big thing), stars were ringing up like there was no tomorrow.

So I'm calling it. The latest big celebrity trend for the masses is: rings on every finger. You might not be able to wear the look at your next important Board Meeting or to defend your dissertation - but go for it with any casual or dressy ensemble, I'm thinking.
Time to dust off those long lost rings that haven't seen the light of day in a while (mood rings included!). Troll the vintage shops, grandma's jewelry box - and of course places like Jewelry.com and JewelClub (code: INSIDER) - for affordable, fun ring styles you can pile on like the tastemakers. So what do you guys think of my proclamation? Am I on the right track? Would you wear this look -and if so - where? Weigh in!

Glamour's Women of the Year Shine Bright

The 2009 Glamour Women of the Year Awards took place last night in New York’s grand Carnegie Hall, and the star power was at full wattage – despite a lack of significant jewelry bling to speak of on the carpet.

Honoree, Rihanna, dazzled in a Stephan Rollande gown and Cartier diamond studs – earning the respect of the crowd and presenter, Iman, for riding the tide of public sentiment after her high-profile beating from former boyfriend Chris Brown. Onwards, girlfriend!

Fellow honoree, Amy Poehler, followed suit in basic diamond studs that didn’t outshine her metallic sheath by Stella McCartney (also honored). And Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi showed off her baby bump with a little gold glam (most likely from her own jewelry line).

I’m loving the sleek Serena Williams style with heavy bangs and diamond cuffs – and while I prefer a brunette Catherine McPhee, her onyx and diamond deco drops from Bochic are to die for. Nice work.
The winner for me in the ‘notsomuch’ department had to be Miss Gayle King in a statement necklace that didn’t need her sequined belt’s competition. Less is more when you’ve got such a wow piece taking center stage, right?
For a full album of the evening’s top fashion moments, visit the Jewelry.com Facebook page and weigh in with your rants and raves. And visit the Glamour homepage for a full recap of the evening’s honorees (and there were many worthy women to celebrate).

Rihanna’s Rocks Still in Police Custody

It’s bad enough when your boyfriend turns out to be a big loser, but to lose your jewelry on top of it all? Insult? Meet injury.
Pop sensation, Rihanna, is seeking the return of $1.4 million in jewelry she was wearing the night she was allegedly beaten by jerk, I mean, boyfriend, Chris Brown.
Donald Etra, an attorney for the "Umbrella" singer, filed a motion Tuesday asking that Los Angeles police and prosecutors return a pair of earrings and three rings, which were seized as evidence.
The motion states that Brown's attorney, and a Los Angeles Police Department detective overseeing the case, do not object to the return of the items. They have agreed that photographs can be used if the case goes to trial. The filing includes a general description of the items, saying they all are made of "yellow metal" and all but one includes "white stones."
Leave it to the fuzz to take away any modicum of glam in their diamond description. White stones? Please.
The good news is, Rihanna is not responsible for the jewelry once returned. The filing indicates the baubles were loaned to the singer by four companies, which want the items back for events overseas.
In the meantime, Rihanna is moving on with her life expressing her desire that prosecutors and Brown reach a plea agreement before a trial, but that the 21-year-old singer would testify if called.
