Lebanon-born Paris and Beirut-based designer, Elie Saab sent out a sweetly beautiful Haute Couture Collection, featuring one perfect Oscar Red Carpet gown after another (take note Actresses!). It was a "new" Elie Saab woman: Less Halle Berry, more Scarlet Johansson; sweeter, not so "fierce" (well, those shoes were!) and more delicately made-up (hair, make-up). His Middle Eastern girls getting ready to "debut" at the next Crillon Ball should be ready to put their orders on one of those $50,000+ creations as we speak!

Highlights from Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2011:
Runway to Red Carpet: January Jones in Lanvin by Alber Elbaz, Spring 2010 "Mad Men" actress January Jones wore a black Lanvin gown to the 67Th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Interestingly enough, it was customized from the original cocktail-length version to a floor-length gown with side slits. I am sure some people might see this as being a bit "too out there" but I liked that she (or her stylist) chose this.
January Jones is becoming a "fashion gal" in that, especially after the Emmy Awards "futuristic" ivory Versace Atelier gown, she got a mixed reaction: Fashionistas LOVED it while non-fashion folk thought it was "just too much".
"I don't get it" was their general thought. I did get it and I totally get this. I especially "get" the black hair band. She is SO NOW!!! Victoria Beckham: Watch Out, you're not the only one who loves them headbands darling!
Golden Globes Best Actress Winner Meryl Streep wore a black (a trend color this year?) gown with an asymmetrical off-the-shoulder neckline and one-sleeve. Very directional for her and I praise her for it. The cinched gold-buckled belt creates an hourglass shape, accentuating her waist. Perfectly elegant, yet modern gown for a woman of her stature, demeanor, age and size. I would guess it is a Donna Karan from the asymmetry of it to the dark wool jersey like fabrication and simple shape. It looks very much like a gown from Karan's Pre-Fall 2010 Collection as seen above in the photo. I think the style Streep chose is modern and effortless. Just like Meryl.
