Elizabeth Olsen bundles herself up in layers as she heads down the street during the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah earlier this week.
The 21-year-old actress sat down with ElleGirl to chat her own fashion sense versus her famous sisters and her budding film career. Check it:
On wearing the brand named for her: “They’re [Mary-Kate and Ashley are] the best! [But] I don’t have any interest in fashion at all, as a career. I love wearing clothes that are soft and comfortable. I love wearing Elizabeth and James. I use to be strictly Annie Hall in high school. I would wear the hat and suspenders and all the button up shirts and masculine pants.”
On the types of roles she goes for: “I’m a huge believer that complexity in roles for young people in general (male and female) is very hard to find. It’s such a gift to be able to read a role for a young women and then be able to do it.”
On her next role in Red Lights: “I am driven to a challenge, but after doing two films that are emotionally exhausting the next film I’m working on is Red Lights with Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver. It’s a totally different character. She’s much more of a stable person, compared to the other characters. So, I’m really excited to do something that’s a little closer to home.”
On trading acting for ballet when she was younger: “I started taking acting classes when I was seven. I auditioned for a little bit, but then my [ballet] teacher wouldn’t let me, because I was missing ballet classes and it was unfair. [Ballet] is a strong discipline. So, I stopped going on auditions. I continued my acting training through a conservatory in high school and two conservatories while at NYU.”
